 2200 Music Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preserving a historic recording studio while building a vibrant, living music arts center. Our mission is to provide musicians and artists of all backgrounds with access to professional recording facilities, hands-on education, and creative resources that support artistic growth and meaningful community impact.

Operating from the former Record Plant Recording Studio in Sausalito, California, our work is about more than saving a historic space. We are committed to safeguarding the tradition of live studio recording and a vital part of our cultural and musical heritage for generations to come.

 Preserve a Cultural Landmark

Once nearly lost, this iconic studio remains at risk of permanent closure or sale. Through preservation efforts and historic designation, 2200 Music Foundation is working to secure the studio’s future and guide it into its next chapter.

Advance Recording Education

We operate as a Teaching Studio, where studio operations and tax-deductible donations support hands-on educational programs serving emerging artists, students, and educators.

Build a Community Cultural Hub

Beyond recording, we open our doors through public cultural events, music programming, and educational partnerships, extending the studio’s impact beyond its walls.
